Day 66

M&M's.......have you figured out my weakness yet?

Day 65

Hannah took Kolby for a walk at a nearby park today and he came back totaly exhausted.  We just hung out in the backyard for a while and just totally relaxed.  There is nothing better than being outside on a warm spring day watching the neighborhood go by.

Day 64

The daffadoils are all in bloom in the neighborhood.  These are my neighbors'.  I guess maybe I should get some planted in my yard this year.  Most of my flowers are summer blooming and are not up out of the ground yet or they are just beginning to peak through.

Day 63

I couldn't decide what picture to take today.  It was getting late and I needed something fast!  Simon was asleep on the top of the couch and I basically shoved the camera in his face until he got upset with me.  He decided to get back at me by grabbing my camera's wrist string.  He eventually grabbed it hard enough and pulled the camera out of my hand - which of course make the camera land on his head!  He didn't stick around after that.  Sorry Simon!

Day 62

Today Kolby went to work with Hannah and got a much needed bath.  He misses Gunner and wonders where he is.  We've kept him busy by taking him for rides each day.  This  morning was the first morning he hopped in bed with us to wake us.  Usually, that was Gunner's ritual and then Kolby would join in so as not to miss out on anything.  It's taking some time, but we'll get there.

Day 61

I decided to put a plug in for my brother's business today by taking a picture of a window decal he did for our lacrosse team.  It turned out pretty good.  Kudo's to Keith and if you ever are in need of decals, signs, etc. be sure to contact me.

Day 60

Chocolate Peanut M&M's don't fix everything, but I'd like to think it's a good place to start!

Day 59

Here fishy, fishy, fishy!  Actually Simon has not attempted to eat the fish, he just likes to taste the water!

Day 58

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks to friend Pam Dyson for sharing this poem with me.  I know I said I would not post another picture of Gunner but this was taken when he was young.  These are all of his siblings.  Gunner has the maroon string around his collar.

Day 57

Today, Gunner and I spent a little time outside.  This will be my last photo of him I'll post.  I want to thank everyone for your prayers and your support.  Your comments mean the world to me and I know you have been thinking of us.  Thanks for following my blog and keeping up on our progress.  Hopefully, my future Project 365 posts will be a bit more uplifting.  In Memory of Gunner (August 26, 2002 - March 23, 2010)

Day 56

There isn't much new information to tell today regarding Gunner.  He stopped eating again; only ate one small container of yogart.  Just another day of lots of hugs and lovins.

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Day 55

There isn't much change today other than Gunner's eyes look a little more sad.  He is eating his chicken and rice and seems to enjoy it.  His breathing is about the same.  Last night he seemed to have slept better or else I'm just getting to use to the sounds.

Day 54

Last night, Gunner ate a few bites of scrambled eggs.  I spoke with our vet, Dr. Kay this morning and unfortunately, Gunner's body is shutting down.  Cancer has a way of taking away a persons (or in this case a canine) appetite.  Our goal now is just to get him to eat and get back some of his strength and energy for a few more days before we have to make that ultimate decision.  For breakfast, Gunner had scrambled eggs again.  For lunch he scarfed some chicken and rice and yogart for dessert. I didn't give him the plain yogart, he ate strawberry and banana flavored!  For dinner, it will be more chicken and rice and maybe blueberry yogart.  For now, we love him dearly - ge gets lots of hugs and kisses, his favorite thing of all time.  He is most happy being touched so that is what we will do.    :`(

Day 53

Today Gunner spent time outside with me while I pulled weeds in the flower beds.  I thought maybe some fresh air would pep him up a bit.  He has been moving slow today.  He did not eat his breakfast this morning so we shall see what he does with his dinner.  Last night was a better night as he did not wake me with his coughing or congested breathing.  Thank God for another day!

Day 52

Are you tired of my pet photos yet?  Not every night, but most nights Kolby and Gunner share the same bed (when they are not with me in my bed!).  They eventually get too hot and Kolby will venture over by the window or downstairs on the cool wood or tile floor.  Last night between one and two a.m., Gunner was back in bed with me coughing and breathing heavily. This morning he ate only half of his breakfast.  If he doesn't eat much tomorrow, we'll be calling the vet again.

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Day 51

This week it's all about Gunner.  Yesterday, the vet said we may have one more month to battle, but after today, I'm thinking we might be lucky to have one week.  Gunner only ate a few kibbles this evening.  He doesn't have much interest in eating or playing.  I have gotten some wags from him!  We will continue to spoil and love on him as long as we can.

Monday, March 15, 2010

Day 50

Today was vet day.  It was time to take Kolby in for his check up and while we were at it, we took Gunner too.  Gunner has been having coughing spells which we thought was the start of his heart failure from his cancer.  After x-rays, it turns out that the tumors have spread into his lungs. Gunner loves to sit up front next to me in the truck.  He's not one to ride in the back...he calls shotgun.  His tush sits in the middle seat and his front paws are on the floor hump.  He's been known to rest his head on the gear shift and change gears on me.  Not cool when driving down the highway!

Day 49

Today was soccer day.  This is a horrible picture but it was the only close shot I could get with my little Panasonic DC FX3.  One day (hopefully soon!) I will have a newer camera...one that can zoom in really close and get nice action shots.  (Carey is the one in blue if you haven't figured it out yet.)  Oh and by the way, we won 2-0.

Day 48

It's exciting to know that I can have a box of Girl Scout cookies in my home and know that I had absolutely no particpation in ordering, receiving, warehousing or banking involved for the first time in 18 YEARS!  I am so excited!

Day 47

My too too funny daughter decided to draw faces on the eggs while still in the carton.  It wasn't until I opened the carton did I discover her artwork.  Of course, I had a LOL moment at the time but it wasn't until I went to put the eggs in water to boil did the facial expressions take on a whole new meaning!  Thanks for the laughter my dear child!

Day 46

Today I'm working on a Heritage Makers project for a diva friend of mine.  She is a consultant for BeautiControl so if you are familiar with BC and need a consultant - be sure to contact me and I'll give you her information.  If you haven't tried HM yet, visit my site and create a free account.  It's so easy to use.

Day 45

Strawberry season will be here in a couple of months and I will soon be making my jam again.  The warm weather had me outside this afternoon peaking for any signs of tulips.  Some are about an inch or two of the ground.  I look forward to tending to the garden, clearing the weeds and making way for summer.

Day 44

This is the last flower in the bunch that I purchased last week.  I'm not sure what it is it but makes for an interesting bouquet.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Day 43

Another gorgeous day today!  Kolby, our golden/chow mix child, loves to be outside.  He will lay out there for hours "guarding" the homestead making sure those bunnies, squirrels, birds and moles don't make their way into our yard.  He is such a good watch dog.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Day 42

Today was another gorgeous day, warm and sunny!  This carnation was part of the arrangement I bought a few days ago.  Soon my yard will have lots more flowers to photograph.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Day 41

Today was the official start to soccer season here in STL.  It was a beautiful 58 degrees - a bit chilly when the wind blew but the sun felt awesome.  First game turned out to be a tie - 1/1.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Day 40

I enjoy having flowers around the house especially in the winter because it's so dreary outside and they seem to brighten things up a bit.  But since I have no flowers to cut outside yet, I resort to buying them at the grocery store.  I will have lots more flowers to show you once summer comes!

Day 39

It's finally complete!  The puzzle from hell!  If you remember from an earlier post, this puzzle has individual pictures on each piece and when all put together creates a new image. Some pieces would be an image of Tigger or of Pooh or even strange little creatures that I don't remember seeing in any Walt Disney movie!  Nonetheless, my winter project is complete and my brain a whole lot smarter!

Day 38

Keeping in line with yesterday's post, I thought I would share with you our single pendant charm.  This charm can be purchased separately or attached to a chain necklace.  The pendant has space for a photo on each side.  You can check out my website for more info on the necklaces.  As you can see, I keep my charms on my purse.

And by the way, I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments I receive on my posts each day!  I'm so glad you are all being entertained!

Day 37

I received the bracelet I made from Heritage Makers today.  This is actually for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.  Yes I know I'm a bit early, but really I'm late because she was suppose to get it for Christmas, then her birthday in February!  There are places for 6 pics of the grandkids.  If you don't know what to get your mother (or mother-in-law) this would make the perfect gift.  And if you don't have 6 grandkid photos, I have also done these with photos of flowers and initials.  Ask me how you can get one!

Day 36

It's almost here!  Lacrosse season begins in two weeks.  Today I so busy I had barely even thought about my photo for the day.  For the past several hours I have been sorting through boxes of hoodies and sweatpants so the players can have for practice tomorrow.  So my photo today is of the sweatshirt.  Not very original but this little item has consumed most of my day!
