Day 187

Today was shucking and canning day.  We shucked six dozen of ears of corn to freeze.  We also canned tomatoes but I'm still counting the jars as we didn't finish.  Will finish up tomorrow.

Day 186

I am just over half way through with my Project 365 and I'm finding it a little bit more difficult to find things to photograph.  I guess it would be easier if I was out and about every day but my office is in my home and needless to say, I don't get out much!  I wander through the house on rainy days (like today) for interesting shots. No, I do not have a Zebra living in my house.  Close though....that would be my daughter Hannah.  I think her room looks like a pigs pen but I don't dare sleep in there much less walk in there as I may hurt myself.  I still love ya though baby girl!

Day 185

Yesterday I had issues with my computer and didn't get the opportunity to write about my picture.  If you haven't figured it out yet, it was Hannah's cozy, spotted blanket.  Today, my in-laws came over and gave us a peck of tomatoes.   Tim wants to can juice and sauce again this year.  This won't be near enough but will give us a head start.

Day 183

Have you ever head a baby bunny cry?  I have twice.  The first time wasn't a pretty cry and I won't explain what happened as it was very sad, but the second time I heard them cry was today.  Evidentally, they do not like to get wet.  You see, I was watering my garden when I heard crying.  I knew immediately what it was because I heard that sound before.  I'm not sure how many are in this nest but I did see two for sure.  I will wait a couple of days and see if I can't get a better picture as they will have grown a bit more.  I wondered why my squash plants looked trampled upon.  Now I know.

Day 178-182

Last Thursday (Day 178) we left for South Bend, Indiana...home of Notre Dame.  Carey was invited for the second year to attend the Notre Dame Sophomore Challenge.  This will be our last trip there unless of course, he does extremely well with his studies and prays really, really hard for a full ride scholarship to play lacrosse!! (One can dream, can't they?)

Carey has met other players from as far away as Oregon to New York.  Trading lacrosse shorts with other teams has become a tradition.
While on campus, we took advantage of some photo opportunities.
The golden dome has to be one of the most memoriable sites at Notre Dame.

Day 177

We had storms again today.  It left us with a faint rainbow though.  You will most likely need to click the photo to enlarge it to be able to see it though.

Day 176

This is the 2nd tree in a week that came down with the storms we had on Saturday.  Luckily it wasn't one of our's but the neighbors.  Bradford Pears are pretty but do horrible in storms.

Day 175

It wasn't until after I had already taken a couple of photos today and uploaded them to my computer did I find out someone had already been doing a photo shoot earlier in the day.  For someone who does not like me taking pictures of her, she sure seems to be stealing my camera from time to time!

Day 174

It's not every day I get the opportunity to take a picture of Hannah.  She tends to hide from me!  Tucker looks so much bigger when he's being held.

Day 173

We had a visitor today.  Kolby found him along the patio.  Kolby was unsure about the turtle but Tucker thought barking at it would I guess get him moving a bit faster!

Day 172

I'm sharing two photos today.  They are both of the same dragonfly, just looking in different directions from where I was standing.  If you can somehow enlarge this picture on your screen, you will be able to see the designs in his wings!  I thought that was pretty cool!  In the second,  he is now facing me.  Be sure to enlarge to see his eyes.  I think I was being watched!

Day 171

How can such a sweet thing be such a terror?

Day 169, 170

Well, yesterday, I gave up on figuring out a photo.  I can only walk around the back yard for so long!  So Day 169 is a bust.  Today, Day 170, wasn't much better.  I ventured into the basement to see what interesting life was forming down there in Carey's cave.  It isn't pretty, let me tell you.  I did manage to find an object to focus in on though.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring more excitment with it!

Day 168

These berries are the favorite of what I think are little chickadee birds.  The tree is covered in birds except for when I am nearby with my camera...of course!

Day 167

We biked the Katy Trail from Defiance to Augusta this morning and at Klondike Park, there was the perfect spot for a photo shot.  The rump needed a rest anyway!

Day 166

Our sail shade is just about finished.  It took us a little while but we will have some shade now on the back patio and won't roast in the sun as much.

Day 165

While sitting outside this afternoon waiting for the birds to sit long enough for me to take a photograph, the soccer ball laying still in the middle of the yard caught my attention.  It was easier to photograph than the silly birds.

Day 164

Oh my how we've grown!  It has only been 5 days since we left Tucker and Kolby at the kennel but it sure does seem like he grew a bunch!  We take him to the vet in the morning for a possible infection but we will also weigh him to see how much he has actually grown!

Day 158 through 163

I'm back!  We had a wonderful vacation in Wisconsin Dells.  Even though the weather was crappy for us, we managed to still enjoy some outdoor fun.  It's all about the food and fun for us and we did plenty of both!  We stayed at Chula Vista Resort, which was ranked the number two spot for a Midwest vacation.  There are several restaurants and a water park on site so there really is no need to leave the resort!

Horseback riding is one of our favorite things to do as a family.  It sprinkled on us in the beginning but at least it wasn't 100 degrees!  We had comfy mid-80's weather the whole week.

The "Dells" are sandstone rock that were formed by the river.  We took a couple of different boat tours to see them up close.  This particular rock looks like an Eagle's head, which by the way we did see an Eagle.  Unfortunately, I did not have my good "zoom" camera with me at the time.

I know this is the "cheesy tourist" in us, but we took the "Original Wisconsin Duck" tour.  Yes, we rode that ugly green vehicle that tours both land and water.  Here we are waiting for chauffeur to take us on our tour.

This photo was taken on one of our many boat tours.  Carey is sporting the scruffy look these days.  He's not wanting to shave all summer.  Oh well, it's not looking bad so far.

Miniature Golf is another must-do on vacation along with the usual family picture which only a couple will tolerate!  All-in-all, we had a very enjoyable trip and would love to go back.  I highly recommend a trip to the Dells.

Day 157

Today's photo is the pups again because tommorrow they head to the kennel to stay while we are away on vacation.  This will be Kolby's first stay since Gunner has been gone and I am a little worried for him.  He's always had his buddy there by his side.  I will be taking lots of photos while I'm gone but I may not have time to blog about them until I get back.  We'll see how it goes.  Be patient with me!
